With this blog, I hope to bring awareness to the troubles our oceans and the beautiful creatures that call it home are facing. As each minute goes by we, the human race, are damaging our oceans. The Next Eco-Warriors shares the stories of a new generation of change-makers. Editor Emily Hunter,daughter of Greenpeace’s founding president Robert Hunter, introduces us to the creative and diverse global community of young people who are tackling issues of climate change, marine conservation, the disappearance of indigenous cultures and rainforest, and other urgent environmental/social concerns with a sense of passion and possibility.
On September 7th, cove guardian Leilani Munter, captured this video of a small pod of Risso’s dolphins being driven into the cove, the first of the 2011/2012 season. These dolphins were later killed.

Catch of the Day: Plastic Surprise - Galveston Beach, TX
To bring some attention to ocean pollution and just how disgusting it really is, Surfrider Foundation teamed up with Satchi & Satchi LA to create “Catch of the Day.” Simply and brilliantly, they collected actual trash from beaches around the U.S., packaged it like food, and left it on display at farmer’s markets

An Austrian judge has acquited animal activists who released animals, finding that the Animal Liberation Front (ALF) is not a criminal organization but an ideology based on equality between humans and non-humans, and it is not a crime to sympathize with them.
